Key ideas

▸Getting better at learning is NOT the same as making it faster or easier — effective learning takes effort and feels uncomfortable.
▸Learning = encoding (putting info into memory) + retrieval (using it). Encoding decides how many gaps you have; retrieval finds and patches them.
▸Three pillars, built in order: enablers → retrieval → encoding.
▸Enablers = self-management (procrastination, time, focus) + growth skills, the two biggest being experimentation and critical reflection.
▸Encoding is arguably most important but is taught last — it can take weeks to years to unlearn old habits.
▸Enablers and retrieval are “safety nets” that buy you the runway to slowly rebuild encoding.

Stabilise enablers first, then retrieval, then encoding — don't start at the top.
Run a tight loop: experiment with a technique immediately, then critically reflect to design the next experiment.
